Sims 2 Pleasantview~ My Finance Rules

Updated: May 9

I've devised the following finance rules because I'm a nerd and love to make my Sim's game more complicated than it really needs to be - for fun! Here are my current rules, but I'm working on them as I test them out.

All income is used to pay welfare payments, upgrade community lots and build new ones in Pleasantview as well as pay for staff for the school, hospital, military, retirement home, police station, children's home and prison once I've got those established in the future. I have set up the following income and outcome rules and will be introducing them into my Pleasantview gameplay soon and testing them out. I will come back to adjust them as I need to so check back for updates in the future!

INCOME RULES

*Household Tax = Households are taxed a percentage of household value (value of property, household funds and money in bank) at the start of each round. Bank accounts belonging to Sims aged teen or younger are not taxed. College students are also not taxed. Any households that are state run e.g. the Children's Home also do not pay tax.

Tax rates are as follows:

  • 5% if household value is < or = 20k

  • 10% if household value is > 20k

  • Household tax is capped at a maximum 10k for all households.

The following deductions apply to household tax, refunds are not given, if the tax becomes negative it is considered 0:

  • Married/joined Sims receive a £500 tax deduction.

  • Any household with teens or younger receive a £500 tax reduction for the first two children (no more deductions are given if they have more children than this).

  • Business owners receive a £500 tax reduction per business as long as the business is open and functional.

  • Single parents receive a £500 tax reduction (their children must be aged teen or younger).

  • Sims on welfare (see below) receive a £500 tax reduction.

*Business Tax = Sims are taxed 10% of any business perk money received (this is money you can gain from levelling up a business).

*Genie Tax = Sims must pay 10% of any funds received from the genie.

*Inheritance Tax = Adult and Elder Sims pay 10% of any money received through inheritance as tax. Sims younger than the Adult life-stage do not pay inheritance tax.

OUTCOME RULES

*Welfare Payments = a household with a jobless Sim and household funds of <1k (including any money in bank accounts) receives £882 (slacker lv1 x 7 days) as a welfare payment at the start of the round.

*First Child Payment = If the household funds are under £5k (including any money in bank accounts), the household receives £1K for the birth of their first child from Sim City to buy baby supplies.

*Community Upgrades = Remaining funds generated from tax can be used to upgrade community lots and to build new community lots. Remaining funds can also be used to pay for building and staffing Schools, Hospitals, Military, Retirement Home, Children's Home, Prison etc. when they have been established.
